Sheikh Bashar Uddin was born and grew up in Dhaka, Bangladesh. After graduating as a Civil Engineer from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Bashar came to Australia in 2003 for higher studies. He took up a position with Brisbane City Council and moved to Brisbane in 2007. After almost 15 years of public service in the Water and Wastewater Industry of Southeast Queensland, he is now working as an engineering consultant in Brisbane. He is also a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) and a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).

Bashar is passionate about participating in volunteering activities to help the community. He has been part of various subcommittees of BAB in the last few years and was involved in different community activities. He is very focused on highlighting the positives of Bangladeshi community to the wider Australian community. Traveling, reading and sports are among his other interests.
